What is an ICT network?

What is an ICT network?

Networks are made up of thousands of computer devices connected by different types of transmission media such as telephone lines, satellites, and fiber optics. Computer networking is the linking of two or more computing devices together for the purpose of sharing data , software and peripherals.

Why use a networked system rather than a standalone?

Networking computers together can increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the work being done within the system. Using a network allows the business and users of the system to share resources. They can share software and peripherals with the other computers which means that money can be saved because the number of software and peripherals needed is less as well as time because there is no need to move to another computer to, for example, print a document.
